Parent Coaching 1 to 1 sessions

For when you just need that focused 1 to 1 conversation with someone who gets it and who can help.

“We don’t believe in a ‘one size fits all’ approach – every child, every parent and every carer is different. So, we tailor each parent coaching session to create a personalised plan to help and support you to reduce the challenges you’re experiencing.”

How do the parent coaching sessions work?

Our sessions are an hour long, usually over Zoom, and every session is personalised to meet your needs. We don’t run our individual sessions using a set programme. We’ll share the approach with you in the way that works best for you.

We’ll start by understanding the challenges you’re experiencing, the needs of your children, your needs and any other relevant information. From this we’ll work with you to create a plan, based on your priorities, and together we’ll think about how the Connective Parenting approach can help you.  We don’t believe in a one size fits all approach so we’ll personalise our thoughts and ideas to meet your needs, as every child and parent is different.

You are the expert in your child. We are here to help and support you, and work collaboratively to reduce the challenges you’re experiencing.

A large part of this work is looking at ourselves, our own beliefs, attachment styles and needs. These help us to understand how we are connecting with our children. Our own upbringing plays a role in how we parent and that understanding can be powerful in changing our relationship with our own children.

We can help you with…

  • school avoidance
  • physical and verbal aggression
  • defiance
  • sibling struggles
  • controlling ‘behaviours’
  • trauma responses
  • struggles with connecting with your child
  • ... and everything in between.

These aren’t exhaustive lists, but hopefully gives you an idea of the types of things we can help with, but please don’t hesitate to contact us for other worries.

  • feeling triggered by your child
  • struggling with day to day life
  • feeling not good enough as a parent
  • struggling to connect with your child
  • feeling emotionally exhausted and maybe in blocked care
  • ... and everything in between.

Sarah is trained in EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) also known as tapping that is very beneficial if you are struggling with your mental health.  Maybe you feel constantly triggered by your child, completely exhausted caring for them every day or every day life feels stressful.  EFT can help relieve the feelings and help process them.  If you’d like to find out more and understand how it might help you, please get in touch.

Our parent coaching supports families with children of all ages, as our approach is relationship-based and helps with any relationship, whatever age.

(It works with adults as well!)

Who are the sessions with?

Sessions are held with either Sarah Fisher or one of her team, all of whom have trained with her.

We usually operate a waiting list and you will work with the next available coach who is the best fit for your family, unless you have stated a preference.

(If individual sessions are not right for you, the Connective Parenting Hub offers lots of training and support within a group environment.  You can find the details about the Connective Parenting Hub here.)

Where are the sessions?

Most of our sessions are held online, so wherever you are in the country you can work with us.

We are now offering in-person sessions in Haywards Heath, Sussex.

How much do they cost?

While we are an independent team, over half of our referrals come from children’s services, charities and other organisations.

We do offer ‘one off’ sessions, however most families will benefit from a series of sessions to support with implementing the approach and working through the challenges.

For those eligible, the Adoption and Special Guardianship Support Fund (ASGSF) will fund sessions.
